Hello. I am new to this group. I was recently diagnosed with HPV. I'm assuming it is the high risk kind as I need to go in for a colposcopy. I'm worried sick. I went through this same experience 14 years ago and I thought it was behind me. I am now 36 years old and so very worried that my body won't be able to clear out the infection since I'm older. I've also been reading information online about oral and anal cancer. I have to say I'm terrified of these as well and has just given me anther thing to worry about. The only thing that is making me feel somewhat at ease is the fact that I go in for my routine Pap smear every single year, no exceptions. I just wish I wasn't such a worrier. Any words of advice would be great. Thank you all in advance.

I just found out I have the virus last April. My husband denies he gave it to me. When we first got together in 2003 I noticed a couple of warts in his genital region, I didn't think too much about it since he had a couple regular looking warts on his arm and inner middle thigh. He told me the Dr. told him they were fine, there was one just on the edge of his butt crack. No further in or on his other parts. So about 8 years later, I went in the hospital for angioplasty, where they make a small incision right about on the panty line. So a year later I think it's a skin tag or scar tissue... I get bad scar tissue... a year later it's bigger and more lumps. Had my Dr. look and the nurse...they both said they are hpv warts. I just got health insurance so I'm getting them off in two weeks. No to other outbreaks anywhere. She told me to give my husband (we have been living apart for a year due to other issues) benefit of a doubt that could be what his Dr. told him. When I first said something to my husband he totally denied it said he's had those warts for 25 years, nobody ever told him that's what they were. Still he doesn't believe that's what they are. I know I didn't get it from anyone else than him. My colonoscopy's have come back fine. I just need to go through the rest of the testing. Ugggghhh
