I didn't even know what HPV was 48 hours a go...
HPV is the most common STI, satistically it's like 80% of people sexually active will acuire it at some point in their life. Did you get diagnosed from a pap? There are also many many strands of the virus. The research is showing that HPV does go away on it's own, which is encouraging. There isn't a whole lot you can do about HSV, expecially in the early stage, (the beginning of cervical cancer is a diff story)... it's recommended to get annual paps. My advice as hard as it might be, is not to consume yourself. Everyone's HSV story is different, and most likely everyone's types are different, and our bodies respond different. It can cause unneeded anxiety reading about other people horror stories.
Your going to make it :) And I believe it makes you stronger.

Hello there---
While I am certainly no expert on this (I just got diagnosed a few weeks ago), I can say that it would sound more normal to suggest to get a colposcopy done. I do have a friend that also got diagnosed with HPV years back but her doctor didn't suggest doing anything. I'm not quite sure if this is the right thing to do, but I'm going to get one done so I can know exactly which HPV I have and what I can do to try to make the symptoms less severe.
And yes, unfortunately HPV is spreading like wildfire and it seems to be the common "cold" among women nowadays, since you don't have to have intercourse to get it. I wish I knew that years ago and I wish I got the shot. :^(
But I understand your anxiety. The day I got diagnosed, I couldn't think of anything else for the next 2 days. It took a good week to sit in, being that HPV is so common and that girls that are barely sexually active get it. I hate this virus for that reason.
But I feel a tiny bit better now now that I've had time to let it sit in as well as do some research. Also, talking about it with my doctor and closest friends help a lot too. Yes, it's a big inconvenience, but I am determined that I am going to go on with my career and my future goals regardless of how severe this is. I should be alright.
